Explore the Lake District
Hi, we’re April and Martin and we moved to the Lake District in December 2021. Our mission is to walk the 214 Wainwright fells here on our doorstep. We’ll also be exploring all the nearby lakes and surrounding landscapes.
The Lake District
The Lake District is an area of natural beauty located in the North West of England (Cumbria).
Back in 1951, it was established as a National Park and is well known for its sixteen lakes and the 214 fell tops that the author Alfred Wainwright described in his Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells.
Surprisingly, there is actually only one official lake in the Lake District – Bassenthwaite Lake. Technically, all the others are ‘meres’ or ‘waters’.
